Dave Clemmons Casting is holding auditions for the new off-Broadway limited run of Dear Edwina.  Music by Zina Goldrich; Book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler; Directed by Timothy McDonald; Choreographed by Steven Kennedy; Casting Director – Joy Dewing; Produced by Daryl Roth.  Rehearsal begins October 27; opens November 17 at DR2 Theatre, New York, NY.  Runs through January 25 w/possible extension thru February 16.

SEEKING:

Versatile male and female actors, excellent singers who move well, 18 and up, all types and ethnicities, with a great sense of humor (impressions and/or characters a plus) to play:  Edwina – belt w/ a high mix, low Ab to high G (High C a bonus), 13-year-old advice giver extraordinaire, also director/choreographer/star of the Spoonapple Repertory Theatre. Becky – mix and legit to high C, Edwina’s enthusiastic best friend, a cheerleader.  Billy – Comedic baritenor to low F#/G, Edwina’s friend, part of the Vanderplook triplets. Cordell & Lars - Billy’s triplet brothers.  Kelli – Mix to high C, Edwina’s cool and sophisticated ballerina next-door neighbor, who also triples as Katie Spoonapple, Edwina’s little sister, a math whiz; and Ann Van Buren, a talent scout. Bobby – Tenor, low B to hi G or G#, Edwina’s new friend, recently moved to the neighborhood.  Annie – Belt w/mix, low G to high G, Edwina’s friend, and girl-scout cookie selling champion.  Scott – High tenor, must have hi A, Edwina’s friend, shy and helplessly in love with Edwina.  Myra/Myron Spoonapple – Edwina’s older sister/brother and musical director of the Spoonapple Rep (possibly doubles as Musical Director).  Joe Spoonapple – Edwina’s older brother (possibly doubles as Percussionist). 

Open call for male and female singer/actors who move well will be held Tuesday, October 14 at 10 a.m. at Pearl Studios, 500 8th Avenue, 4th Floor, New York, NY.  Please sign in by 10:00 a.m.  Please prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song with sheet music in the appropriate key that shows off range and personality, and bring your book.  All auditioning MUST bring sheet music for a piano accompanist and a current headshot/resume, stapled together.  All positions are paid.

Troika Entertainment is casting the production contract tour of Fiddler on the Roof staring Topol for the 2009-10 touring season.  Directed by Sammy Dallas Bayes.  Casting by Dave Clemmons Casting.
Seeking strong legit singers who are excellent actors.  Please prepare 16 bars of legit musical theatre that shows off range and personality. Typing may occur please sign up by 10:00am. PLEASE NOTE: If you were already seen at one the Equity Calls please do not attend this open call.

 

Seeking:
[TEVYE- UNDERSTUDY ONLY]  40- 55  Dairy man, father of five daughters.  A dreamer.  Lives his faith and values it’s traditions.  Must be an excellent singer/actor with an exuberant personality.

[GOLDE]  35 to 55  Dairy farmer’s wife.  Looks older than her age from the hard life style. Strong willed.  A disciplinarian. Able to convey a command with a look or a clap of the hands.           

[TZEITEL] 20 - 25  Eldest daughter.  A cut from her mother’s apron.  Wants to be a good mother and wife in the tradition of her faith.

[HODEL] 20 - 23  2nd eldest daughter.  Opinionated and strong willed. Knows the teaching of her faith.  Has very definitive ideas about marriage.  To marry a man who is learned is a prerequisite.

[CHAVA]18 and over to play 17 –19 3rd eldest and Tevye’s favorite daughter.  Like him, a dreamer.  Likes to read, lives her life in worlds where her books takes her.   Just crossing over from child to young lady with the innocence of a young child.

[SHPRINTZE/BIELKE] 18 and over to play 8-12  Tevye’s youngest daughters. Very dutifully in their place as children.

[YENTE] 40-55  The town matchmaker.  A widow.  Always busy with a sense of no time to slow down, even in her conversations.

[LAZAR WOLF] 50- 60  Town butcher, wealthiest man in town. Strong and big in stature. A widower.  A sense of the finer things in life but a bit crude in presence due to the nature of his work.

[MOTEL] 23 - 28 A tailor. Thin and lanky in look. Very quiet & reserved in his manner.  A hard worker striving to make ends meet to support himself and marry Tzeitel.

[PERCHIK] 23- 28  A student and revolutionary who has his own ideas about the problems of the world and his people, and has the answers to solve them.  Attracted to Hodel and the intellectual challenge she presents.

[FYEDKA] 20-23  Russian peasant.  Enjoys reading and has a very gentle manner. Displays a sense of respect for people, including those of the Jewish community.  Has very strong feelings for Chava.

[FRUMA SARAH]  Age open.  Must be an excellent singer (belt/mix).

[CONSTABLE] 40-60. The local law official.  Very much a peasant himself, with a sense of duty to his job.  Treats all with equal respect, but considers himself a cut above the rest (most notably the Jewish population) due to the uniform he wears.

Character men who are excellent singers/actors for the roles of AVRAM, NACHUM, RABBI, MORDCHA and other PAPAS and SONS.
Women of various ages who are excellent singers/actors for the roles of [GRANDMA TZEITEL] and MAMAS and DAUGHTERS.

 

First Rehearsal January 5,2009; First performance February 10, 2009; Currently Booked through May 2, 2010.  This is a Tier C  Contract. Min. Salary is $1008/ week plus $770 per diem. Ensemble is under Most Favored Nations.
